This Blanc de Noir is definitely the first ever White Cabernet Sauvignon from China or the world. Its colour, texture and taste profile is completely new to the world. 2018 was a great year in Ningxia– especially for a White Cabernet
This is a bone dry wine with an impression of sweetness due to the concentration of the berries. There are aromas of grapefruit peel, citrus and exotic fruit aromas. The palate hosts a range of new flavours, echoing the aromatic experience on the nose. Luscious yet elegant and zippy on the palate. The profile of this unique wine sits between a typical unoaked Chardonnay and a racy Sauvignon Blanc from the Old World – introducing a completely new flavour profile. The wine will age for a long period of time.
Winemakers Lenz Moser (of the renowned Austrian Lenz Moser Winery) and Mr Fan Xi have been working tirelessly since 2015 to identify the authentic Ningxia style of Wine. Their goal is establish China’s place on the winemaking map of the world.
The Ningxia Region is located in Central Western China on the fringes of the Gobi desert and feeds off the Yellow River that has its source in the clean and natural Tibetan Plateau. The vineyards are at 1,100 metres altitude in the Helan mountain region and paired with long daylight hours the small berries are able to ripen fully and develop an intense concentration that shines though in each of the wines.
