Robert Parker describes this wine as “Bright and charming, Bessin’s 2019 Chablis 1er Cru La Forêt mingles notions of white flowers, lemon and apple with hints of beeswax and oyster jus. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a tightly wound, concentrated core, bright acids and a chalky finish, it’s a lovely wine.”
Jean-Claude Bessin and his wife, Evelyne, took the reins of Evelyne’s family vineyards in 1992 and began transforming the estate and produce their own Domaine wines. In the vineyard, Jean-Claude farms organically and aims to limit the yield of his old vines to 45-50 hl/ha. Evolution in recent years has been towards more natural winemaking.
