Marchese Antinori is ruby red in color. On the nose intense notes of morello cherries, violets and lavender and slight sensations of iron typical of Sangiovese and spicy notes of tobacco and leather; its bouquet is completed by delicate hints of vanilla and cocoa powder. Its palate is mouth-filling, generous and lively with an excellent compact tannins that give it a lengthy persistent finish. Exceptional aftertaste characterized by red fruit and liquorice.
Made from the grapes of the Tignanello estate which is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico production zone, nestled between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers, and extends over close to 800 total acres (319 hectares), some 127 of which (415 hectares) are planted to vines. The vineyards consist principally of the native Sangiovese grape along with such non-traditional varieties as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
