Róisín Curley Beaune 1er Cru 2019 “Blanches Fleurs”
€85.00
Beaune’s best vineyards are 1er Cru, and this is one of them. In order to preserve the floral character for which it gets its name, Róisín ferments the wine in concrete tanks with a fifth of the grapes kept on their stems (called whole bunch fermentation) which increases the wine’s pH levels as well, preserving balance at the same time. The wine is then aged in 2 and 3 year old wooden barrels for two years.
Broadly speaking, Róisín gives her wines a very light fining and filtration in order to preserve the natural character of the grapes terroir as much as possible. Indeed, some of her wines are left completely unfiltered.
Irish born winemaker, Roisin Curley, originally hails from Co.Mayo. She is considered a micro-negociant as she buys small parcels of grapes from growers and bottles them under her own name.
