Produced by Niepoort, one of Portugal’s most respected and innovative Port houses, this wine is made from a traditional field blend of indigenous Douro grapes, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and others, sourced from old vines in the Pisca vineyard—one of the oldest and most prized sites in the Douro.
Crusted Port is a rare style, bottled unfiltered and aged in bottle to develop complexity. “Bioma” reflects Niepoort’s commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention, showcasing the vineyard’s purest expression.
Appearance:
Opaque ruby with a deep purple core. Dense and youthful.
Nose:
Intense aromas of black cherry, plum, and wild berries, layered with dark chocolate, spice, and earthy undertones. Hints of liquorice, violets, and crushed rock add depth.
Palate:
Full-bodied and powerful, with rich dark fruit, firm tannins, and vibrant acidity. The texture is muscular yet refined, with flavours of blackcurrant, cocoa, and savoury spice. Long, structured finish with grip and ageing potential.
Vinification:
Traditional foot-treading in lagares, followed by ageing in large oak vats. Bottled unfiltered and aged in bottle for several years before release. Organic farming and minimal intervention throughout.
Pairing:
Ideal with blue cheese, dark chocolate desserts, or roasted nuts. Also excellent with game dishes, spiced meats, or as a contemplative after-dinner wine.
