Agiorgitiko is an ancient Greek red variety capable of producing both young red wines with a lively character and well-structured wines with good aging potential. The Papaioannou winery is located in Nemea, the home of Agiorgitiko The grapes are harvested from 40 year old vines. The family’s knowledge and passion has been passed down over 4 generations and they are experts in working with Agiorgitiko, Greece’s most famous grape.

Deep ruby in colour, this wine has pronounced aromas of ripe black and red fruits and aromatic herbs and spices. The ageing in new oak followed by bottle ageing adds structure and aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, spiced ginger, dark liquorice and cedarwood. The wine is dry, full bodied, with ripe and silky tannins and a long and persistent length. With the perfect balance of acidity and alcohol, this wine has great ageing potential.
