Taylor's Vintage Port 2003
A monumental vintage from one of the Douro’s most iconic houses. Sourced from Taylor’s top estates—Quinta de Vargellas and Quinta de Terra Feita—this wine combines structure, finesse, and extraordinary ageing potential.
Appearance: Deep purple-black with a narrow magenta rim. Opaque and youthful.
Nose: Classic and powerful. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, and plum are layered with violet, gum cistus, and hints of bitter chocolate and kirsch. Complex and brooding.
Palate: Full-bodied and tightly knit. Dense black fruit and dark chocolate unfold over firm, sinewy tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, dry, and resonant, with notes of graphite, spice, and wild herbs. Built for the long haul.
Vinification: Traditional foot-treading in granite lagares. Aged two winters in large oak vats before bottling. Blend includes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, and other classic Douro varieties.
Pairing: A natural match for blue cheese, dark chocolate desserts, or roasted nuts. Also excellent with dried figs or as a contemplative after-dinner sipper.
