World's End Crossfire 2014
The 2014 World’s End Crossfire Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the George III Vineyard in Rutherford (nearby neighbor is Caymus Vineyard). This wine is 100% varietal. Shows a diversity of fruit aromatics on the bouquet including blackberry, boysenberry with tinges of raspberry and hints of white pepper and as the wine opens further, a sweetness of mocha, toasted oak and vanilla. Well-defined yet well-integrated tannins linger softly along with darker cherry, plum and a hint of black liquorice.
Described by Robert Parker as a 'visionary, self-styled revolutionary' and the 'English winemaking guru,' Jonathan Maltus cut his teeth in the fine wine business during the 'garage revolution' in Saint Emilion, France during the 1990's. Chateau Teyssier, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru Estate, has expanded from 14 to 125 acres, into one of the main players of Saint Emilion. World's End is Maltus' first forray into California. He met grower Andy Beckstoffer in 2008 and began to produce the World's End wines.
